# Probability Worksheets

Other than Algebra, I can’t think of a math topic that I enjoy teaching more than probability.  Students intuitively understand the likelihood of something happening or not happening.  The study of probability lends itself to plenty of real-life applications, from making predictions based on data, to creating winning strategies while playing games.

These free probability worksheets introduce students to the basic ideas behind probability.  They will learn how to describe the probability of an event using numbers from 0 to 1.  They will analyze real-life word problems to calculate both experimental and theoretical probability.  Plus they’ll look how complementary events are related to other outcomes.Â

Most of the problems incorporate traditional probability concepts like spinners, coins, and dice.  Each worksheet conforms to Math Common Core Standards (mostly 6th grade and 7th grade at this point).  All of the worksheets include free answer keys and can be customized to suit any grade level. ### Probability Worksheets

Theoretical Probability Worksheet 1 –  Here is a fifteen problem worksheet where students will learn to use fractions to describe the probability of an event.  A number line is included to help students determine if an event is impossible, unlikely, equally likely, likely, or certain.

Theoretical Probability Worksheet 2 –  Here is a fourteen problem worksheet where you will calculate the theoretical probability of an event.  You will determine the total number of outcomes in each situation, then decide how many of those outcomes match your desired outcome.  Finally, you will  express the probability as a number between 0 and 1.

Probability & Complements Worksheet 3 –  Here is a thirteen problem worksheet where students will analyze events and their complements.  They will calculate probabilities for the desired outcome as well as its complement.  Some of the exercises indicate the total number of outcomes, other problems require the students to do a little simple arithmetic.
